Last summer I became a member of YinzBopo, a body positive meet-up group in Pittsburgh, PA founded by my badass fat friend @Jamie_JeTaime. Then, I was privileged to be a panelist in the first annual “Taking Up Space” event in Washington, D.C. hosted by beautiful soul sister @iamivyfelicia of @fatwomenofcolor.

These experiences of sharing joyful and intimate moments with women and femmes who know what it’s like to live in marginalized bodies, women who look like me, women who understand me, were giant leaps in my self-love journey and an antidote to the anger and deep sadness I carried with me for the majority of my life.
These spaces have helped heal ALL of my relationships (including the one with my body) by giving me the strength to RECLAIM MY WORTH AS A HUMAN BEING.
The transformative energy in these kinds of spaces heals, not only the members of the group, but also the community that is witness to the magic of ordinary people loving themselves at any size. That is why I’m back in my hometown of Miami, FL to bring y’all that good BoPo sawce!
